Destination weddings in High South are the perfect opportunity for your guests to make a weekend out of the trip and enjoy a mini-mountain getaway. Whether you’re expecting just a few or a long list of out-of-towners, it’s always a good idea to be courteous to your guests and recommend a place for them to stay while they’re here to celebrate you.
Many of the area’s wedding and special event venues feature on-site lodging that’s perfect for the couple, the bridal party, close friends, and immediate family members. Although it would be nice to keep all of your favorite people together in one place, there may not be enough room at your venue for everyone to spend the weekend, especially if you’re planning a larger event with a long list of guests.
Reserving room blocks at local hotels can be a great way to make the trip convenient for your loved ones, and some of those places may offer group discounts for folks who book early to stay for your wedding.
In addition to a wide variety of quality hotels for all budgets, the High Country is also home to a vast array of cabins, mountain homes, and lodges that will really get your guests in the mood for a weekend in the hills and will have them feeling right at home in the Blue Ridge.
When recommending lodging options, consider the proximity of each place to your venue, other amenities they can offer, and what price range would be most suitable for your guests.
Search the web for accommodations that will meet the needs of your friends and family and narrow it down to two or three that seem like the best fit for everyone. To avoid the penalty of unused rooms, start by blocking a small number of rooms and add more later if it looks like you’ll need them.
Don’t forget to communicate your recommendations to your guests in a timely fashion so they can book their rooms in advance. Mail a card explaining hotel block information with your invitations, including directions to and from the lodging site to your venue and details on any transportation you will provide for them. If you’re creating a wedding website, put all of those details under a tab of their own to make sure your guests can easily access the information.
